Pakistan's new Parliament sworn in

Saturday 1 June was a day in life of chequred history of Pakistan when its new parliament took oath after successful completion of five years of the previous democratically elected government first time in its history which is marred with military take overs and sacking of governments earlier than the stipulated time periods.

The highlight of today's inaugural session of the new parliament was presence of Mr Nawaz Sharif, who walked into the parliament after fourteen years in absentia when his government was overthrown in a military coup - something he asked for.

Mr Sharif will be taking oath of the prime minister on 5th June for the third time. He has vowed to take out the country out of economic mess which has been left by the previous government of Benazir's party.
