Serena becomes the oldest female player to win the Wimbledon title

She has done it again - at almost 34 years old, 33 years and 289 days to be exact, the world no.1 american Serena Williams won her sixth Wimbledon title and her 21st Grand Slam title to become the oldest woman player of the Open Era to win the Wimbledon title.

Earlier, Martina Navratilova held this record of being the oldest female player to win a Wimbledon title.

Serena Williams beat Garbine Muguruza 6-4, 6-4  in Saturday's final to win her sixth Wimbledon title and third Grand Slam title in the current year.
